The Impact of Cybercrime Justina Celentano Faculty mentor:Timothy Burns Ramapo College of New Jersey
Cybercrime is infiltrating every aspect of our lives. We have social media and online bank accounts that hold sensitive and private data and information, yet we are doing a poor job of protecting ourselves from cyberattacks, whether from professional hackers or teenagers with an aptitude for programming. These cyber-criminals are stealing information and using it for personal gain via identity theft, phishing, and beyond. This can affect not just individuals, but entire companies and even governmental organizations, and hackers are quickly outpacing the attack prevention advancements that are being made. It is important for the public to learn about this and about how to more be careful with how they use the Internet and share personal data. Justina Celentano is an Honors Program student at Ramapo College.
