Honey

In mythology women often are tied to nature. This piece, entitled “Honey”, is heavily inspired by Greek mythology and specifically the goddesses Gaia, Demeter, and Persephone. The use of flowers and bees represents growth and abundance. The female in the piece is a figural representation of these ideas. As such, she takes on the guise of a false nature deity. The piece was done in Adobe Photoshop, with both vector and digitally painted elements. While the piece is more graphic stylistically, it keeps some more painterly elements to reference its more classical inspiration.

Andrea Costa lives in Wolcott, Connecticut and is a Visual Arts Major with a concentration in Illustration and a minor in Art History. After graduating, she would like to work in concept art and story boarding for television or video games.
